The Lewis Gates story began on a North Manchester housing estate. His first show was at the local Labour Club for the princely sum of £10 which he promptly split with his friends. The Lewis Gates story began on a North Manchester housing estate. His first show was at the local Labour Club for the princely sum of £10 which he promptly split with his friends. His good friend Jimmy Bond Snr managed him for a while and Lewis performed at local pubs and clubs as a mime act. Eventually he ventured further afield and got a small break performing at The Harbour Hotel in Rhyl. He went down that well that The Harbour contracted him for a full summer season. Every night for twenty two weeks Lewis wowed holiday makers and locals alike! He did this for four extremely successful summe seasons before Maxines Nightclub in Rhyl made him an offer he couldnt refuse. He worked Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year and Sundays in the season. It was here that the owner Mike Ruggiero convinced Lewis to turn live, this lead to a euphoric change to his life. With the help of Phil Hughes his normal fee rose to eight times times what his fee used to be. He formed his own band and the rest is history which you can read all about in his autobiography WITH A HUMBLE HEART available on Amazon.
